Old School Flava : ToyBiz Batmobile

Armand Monday, October 13, 2008

Toys were always a big part of my life. Ever since I was a wee lad I was buying toys. I would pester my parents to get me this and that. Trips to the mall and TRU were pure bliss. I was so into my toys that I would just wander on my own and eventually get separated from my parents. God bless the guy who invented the information counter. You have no idea how many times I went crying to the information counter asking them to page for my parents.

I am pretty thankful that I knew how to appreciate toys at an early age and kept them safe. Some of them survived, but some of them my mom gave away. I'd like to share the ones that survived, so I'm dedicating a segment for them which I'd like to call "Old School Flava".

ToyBiz Batman Batmobile

ToyBiz had acquired the license to produce toys for the 1989 Batman movie. Batman, Joker and Bob (Joker's sidekick) were the 3 action figures with Batmobile, Batwing, Batcycle, Batcave, Joker Van and Joker cycle. I managed to snag the Batman figure as well as the Batmobile but couldn't get my hands on the Batwing.

The Batmobile is one slick car. I just loved Burton's rendition of the Batmobile. IMHO, Burton's Batmobile is the best Batmobile ever. Everything about the car is cool. The whole look of the car just screams cool. Sleek and curvy. And the cocoon shield thingy? Daaayyyymmm!

Anyway the toy Batmobile is pretty screen accurate to its movie counterpart, except for the roof/cockpit. This one does not have a roof oddly enough. Probably due to the fact that it would make it much more easier to get the figures in and out of the car. Oh and instead of machine guns, this one shoots yellow rockets. Go figure.

Old School man...you must be one mature kid to realise that you must look after your toys or else regret when grow up..:O

I don't think I was a mature kid, I don't even think I'm mature now hahahahahahaha!! But yeah I guess I was lucky to realise that the toys had value of some sort so I took good care of them. Just hope my kid can appreciate toys like I do so that I can pass my collection down to my kid someday...

Really cool stuff my man. In fact, I had quite a few M.A.S.K (Transformers rip-off but I think they are damn cool) vehicles. Just can't figure out where my mum kept it (or who she gave it to). Need to go back hometown and look for it. By the way, I've linked you to my site. But since I ain't really IT-savvy, it'll only be a word-based link and not graphic-link.

really cool stuff you have there. actually i have loads of M.A.S.K vehicles/toys. M.A.S.K is a Transformers rip-off which until today I think is totally cool. Yet, I have no idea where my toys went after I left home for studies. Mum must have given it to somebody or hidden it somewhere. Or the roaches took it. Cool stuff my man.

Hey Cheenang, I accidentally posted 2 of your comments. Hehehe! But yeah man I used to own M.A.S.K too! I had Thunderhawk, Condor, Firefly, Stiletto Razorback, Raven Switchblade, Jackhammer, and Manta. I was a huge fan of M.A.S.K. *sigh* sadly none survived.

If I were you I'd hunt for them bro! Hahahaha!

Thanks!

m.a.s.k. rules. i guess my infatuation with m.a.s.k. is over now. coz the carton series died a violent death. haha anyway, i must have gone into m.a.s.k. coz i got pissed with the stupid transformers animated movie in the mid-80's with optimus prime died in the first 15 minutes. damn!
